I wish to apologise for the long queues today at registration. I have been reluctant to introduce electronic registration for the simple reason that if there is a technical hitch or we get behind, a long queue develops. I should have reverted to the old paper system, but I was not expecting half the numbers that actually turned up. However, with only one person on the registration desk instead of the normal three, there would still have been long queues. Michael Napier

Sunday 11th March turned out to be a glorious spring day, and it was good to see so many people out in the woods. For the shorter courses, I tried to build in a bit of interest and variety in the routes. For the longer courses, my aim was to make as much use of the northern end of the area as I could and to keep you off the paths and in the undergrowth for as long as possible - the revised map gave more control sites to work with, and gave the opportunity to have several consecutive controls in what I think are the more interesting bits of Harlow. I saw many tired, but happy looking, runners out on the courses and at the finish.......that's always a good sign!

Thanks to all who helped put out, and bring in, controls - I find a bit of bribery with bacon cobs always helps get folk to the area early to put out controls! Thanks also to Tony for controlling me yet again and keeping me on the straight and narrow - and to Margaret for, amongst other things, "test driving" several of the courses.
